A Working BBDBuy Link Can Still Be the Wrong Product
The page loading successfully is only the first check.
Seller listings can be removed, redirected, reused or edited. An old URL may still work while the product behind it changes.
Check 1 — Product identity
Does the current page still show the type of item you expected?
Check 2 — Main images
Do the current images still match the product you saved?
Check 3 — Variant
Confirm colour, model, bundle or configuration.
Check 4 — Size
Verify that the needed size still exists and use the current chart.
Check 5 — Price
Look at the current price for the exact selected option.
Check 6 — Quantity
Confirm whether the selected price is for one item, a pair, set or multipack.
Check 7 — Seller context
Where visible, confirm that the surrounding store/listing information still makes sense.
Red Flags
Re-check carefully when:
- title and images no longer match;
- the lowest price applies to an unrelated option;
- your size disappeared;
- one listing contains many unrelated products;
- the product imagery changed completely.
When to Replace the Link
Replace it when the current destination creates more uncertainty than value.
A product resource exists to save time, not create detective work.
Link Diagnostics: Four Failure Types
A product URL can fail in four different ways:
- Dead — page no longer works.
- Redirected — URL sends you to another listing or storefront.
- Reused — page works but seller replaced the original product.
- Variant drift — same product family remains, but the exact option you saved is gone or repriced.
This classification is more useful than simply marking a link “working” or “broken.”
Product-Link Audit Table
For important products, keep a compact record:
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| Current product still matches | yes / no |
| Selected variant still exists | yes / no |
| Current variant price | amount |
| Size option | value |
| Seller/store still consistent | yes / changed |
| QC/reference available | yes / no |
| Last decision | keep / replace / investigate |
This is especially useful when a product sits on a shortlist for days or weeks while you compare alternatives.
Do Not “Repair” a Changed Link by Guessing
If a listing has been replaced, do not assume the closest new variant is equivalent. Return to discovery, find a current listing and compare it from the beginning. A clean replacement is safer than trying to reconstruct a disappeared product from memory.
